Apple announces new iPad Air with m4 processor and increased unified memory

Apple has today introduced a new generation of the iPad Air, powered by the M4 processor.

The new iPad Air comes with 12GB of unified memory and 120GB/s of memory bandwidth. The M4 processor in iPad Air features an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU, and offers the below gains in performance over previous models:

  • Up to 30% faster than iPad Air with M3.
  • Up to 2.3x faster than iPad Air with M1.

In addition to the improvements in memory and processor, the M4 iPad Air includes the Apple-designed N1 networking chip and C1X modem (for cellular models); both of which offer faster connectivity.

The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air with M4 come in blue, purple, starlight, and space gray with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage configurations. Pricing starts at $599 for the 11-inch Wi-Fi model and $749 for the 11-inch Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and $799 for the 13-inch Wi-Fi model and $949 for the 13-inch Wi-Fi + Cellular model. A $50 savings is available to education customers, with the 11-inch iPad Air starting at $549 and the 13-inch iPad Air starting at $749, respectively.
