Welcome to the July 2026 installment of AnonyMouse’s App Pick of the Month, where each month I highlight a new or noteworthy app. This month’s pick is Whisper Notes – Speech to Text. Although it is not a new entry on AppleVis this month, this app has been on my radar for a while, and a recent update made it feel like the right time to give it a spotlight. If you have been on the hunt for a solid transcription app, Whisper Notes – Speech to Text is worth a look.
As a longtime user of the AI Note Taker VoicePen, which some of you may recognize from the transcriptions on our AppleVis podcasts, I have made the switch to Whisper Notes as my go-to transcription app. Everything happens entirely on your device, so your recordings never leave your phone, and the process is fast. The app is very accessible with VoiceOver, and it continues to see regular updates.
Whisper Notes handles more than just quick voice memos. It has a built-in recorder you can use for dictation or interviews, and you can also import audio and video files to transcribe from elsewhere. When you are done, you can export a timestamped transcript, and batch export or delete your files whenever you need to tidy things up. It is great for more than just podcasts, useful for any recording you would like turned into text.
And, Whisper Notes is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, which is a nice change of pace in a category where subscriptions have become the norm.
Why I’m Picking Whisper Notes – Speech to Text This Month
Whisper Notes may not appeal to everyone, but it is well worth considering if you are a student who needs to transcribe lectures; someone who dictates notes for work; or really anyone who has ever needed a recording turned into text.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
